Episode 19 - Franklin Rabon

Franklin J Rabon

Just when you thought I might make it through an episode without talking about music, I am here to tell you that this is not that episode. Franklin Rabon is from Georgia. He used to write for a sabermetric baseball blog, and as you can see from the picture, he is also a fan of The Atlanta National League Baseball Club. (Note that we recorded this conversation before the baseball lockout ended.) Franklin is an intelligent and thoughtful individual with an impressive array of interesting life experiences. We didn't get to all that many of them in this conversation, but we'll get to some of them in the future because I'll have him back. He is in a band called The Relic Souls, and you can hear the single they released in December 2021, "Lover Keep Coming", at the end of this episode.

Here are some highlights of our conversation:

  1. How Franklin and I met (3:35)
  2. UGA and college football creep into the discussion (8:30)
  3. Franklin's songwriting approach (32:00)
  4. Franklin's influences (42:25)
